If you are suffering from emotional problems, struggling in relationships, feeling “stuck” without a sense of direction or purpose, or seeking to better understand yourself in order to live a more satisfying and fulfilling life, psychotherapy may be very helpful for you.

I am a board certified psychiatrist offering the following services to adults ages 18 +:

    • thoughtful psychiatric assessment
    • individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis
    • medication management

  • If you need to schedule or change an appointment or request a medication refill, please contact me by phone at (703) 570-6882 or send me a secure message using my HIPPA compliant email.

If we have arranged for a telepsychiatry visit, please use this link at the time of our scheduled appointment: https://doxy.me/drkepple

  • There are many types of “help” out there and you may not be sure what kind you are looking for. Click here to see a rough guide for determining what kind of help makes the most sense for you.

I provide individual psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis the goals of which include but are not limited to increased self-awareness and emotional insight, the emergence of a more stable and positive self-experience, and an increased capacity for meaningful interpersonal relationships. In this approach, we focus on understanding the ways in which your unique history shapes your experience of yourself and others in the present. Over the course of our lives, each of us develops specific ways of thinking and behaving that allow us to cope with difficult life circumstances. Habits that were once helpful to us can become limiting and problematic when our life circumstances change. We might feel stuck or struggle with symptoms of anxiety or depression. In therapy, we work together to learn about the specific expectations you bring to each new experience. We examine and re-work habits that have become more burdensome than helpful and experience new ways of relating.

In combination with psychotherapy, medications can have an important role in the management of symptoms (such as panic attacks, feelings of sadness, trouble sleeping, etc.). As a psychiatrist, I provide diagnostic evaluation and expert medication management that is informed by our work in therapy.

If you are interested in scheduling an initial appointment with me, please call (703) 570-6882 and leave a brief message including your name, phone number, and reason for seeking treatment. If I am currently accepting new patients, I will request some additional information and send you an email through my HIPPA-compliant account. I will ask you to review and sign a copy of my practice policies and HIPPA form, to complete an intake questionnaire, and return these documents to me before our first meeting.

I currently accept UPMC and some Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. Please call your insurance to verify your coverage as individual plans vary. If you would like to use your health insurance to pay for your appointments but you have a different carrier with out-of-network benefits, I can provide a monthly statement that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If we are using your insurance, you will be responsible for any deductible and the copay or percentage not covered by your insurance. Please review this disclosure regarding your protections from surprise medical bills.
